Just come back from holiday and managed to get a copy of 13 Steps to Mentalism by Corinda. If you want to know more about mentalism, develop your skills to amaze your friends then this is a fantastic book. A big pricey at around £17.00 but good value if you are interested in that sort of thing.

Covers all of the skills needed including a large section on Mediumistic stunts a la Seance.

Hope thishelps

Cheers for now

Topic: Inappropriate Radio Adverts

I was shocked to here the following as a Driver Tiredness awarenss campaigh advert ont he radio the other night.

http://www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk/campaigns/drivertiredness/download/AMVRDT30026-SleepTired.mp3

If you are driving your car and this comes on the radio then the affects are too terrible to contemplate.

I have written to the Department of Transport to suggest that they stop using this immeadiately.

Am I being over sensitive here, have a listen and let me know what you think?

Thanks

What do people think of the Derren Brown Messiah programme shown last Friday?

While it was an interesting programme it appeared to me to fall between two stools being neither investigative journalism nor entertainment in the way his other shows/specials were.

If this was his warm up TV shows ahead of his tour then maybe it won't have quite the effect he might be hoping for.

What does anyone else think?

Has anyone else noticed that when your mention your interest in hynpnosis that you tend to get one of three responses.

1. I don't beleive in hypnotism

2. I'm going now

3. Your not going to turn me into a chicken are you?

It's the third repsonse I am really interested in. Why do people think hypnotist turn people into chickens? I can't think of anything I have seen where people have been hypnotised into being chickens but if you know different please let me know!

As an aside I find the best answer to 3 above is to ask what would that sound like and when they make the chicken noise say "that's right".

Thanks

Andy

I saw Derren on his tour last year at the Parr Hall in Warrington and he was fantastic. I didn't get to go on stage but since DB's preference is for tall women with ample chest I wasn't in with much of a chance

Talking to a few of my friends about Trick of the Mind I think we all came to the same conclusion that we preferred Mind Control(MC). MC seemed to be more pacey somehow and there was more to entertain you, if one piece did not amaze you there was something else quickly following. I'm thinking of the Tube stuff, for instance, where there were lots of different people involved etc.

Having said that I love the telephone box stunt and the taxi driver trying to find the Millenium wheel.

My two pennies worth

Rob,

Wasn't it great....... some of my friends seemed really freaked out by it..after all they managed to connect with the right girl (Jane?)

A good programme connecting together a number of illusions it was great.

What really freaked 2 of my friends out was when they sat down to watch the video 2 days later, just after Dereen asked for people to phone in if anything intereting happened, all the power in the street went off (how did DB do that!)

Let's hope for a new series of Mind Control soon, much better than Trick of the Mind don't you think.

Andre
