I had surgery recently and my partner bought me a couple of books from our antique book shop. One by a chap called Carl Sextus, written in 1917 called Hypnotism. Carl had conducted a series or telepathic experiments where he would take subjects into trance by using a spatial anchor.
In his book he has testimonies from people such as the physician to the Royal Danish Court confirming his findings. I found this a fascinating read and I had a few friends staying at my house who were prepared to try a few experiments along the same lines as those mentioned in the book.
I induced trance and then suggested that when I gave a certain hand action (by lowering the left hand from chest to waist level) they would immediately drop into trance. After testing the anchor I then went into another room and, after a few minutes, I cleared my mind and gave the signal. Sure enough trance occurred immediately.
Another of my friends was convinced that this must be some form of trick so we repeated the procedure with her. Interestingly when I first attempted to get her back into trance I used the wrong signal by mistake and without saying anything changed the signal to the correct one (when I realised what I had done).
She ignored the first incorrect attempt but dropped like a stone when I gave the correct signal. Again this was in a different room with people independently verifying the time at which I gave the signal so there could be no nonverbal hints given to the subjects.
Telepathy? No idea. But it has got me keen to experiment further. Sextus mentions doing this over some considerable distance and I think I shall be repeating his experiments to see how far this goes. Had I not done this for myself I'd be in the sceptics corner.
As it stands I suggest you try it. I would be very interested in your experiences.

This is quite an interesting finding, which I know you've spoken about at your recent NLP course. It's something that I am considering doing (not trying!) myself with a couple of friends. What's most interesting is the fact that your subjects responded when they couldn't have visual contact with you, and they just dropped back into trance. Curious... wonder what's going on in the unconscious mind to make this happen. when I get the chance I'll give it a go and report back on anything that happens. Cheers John

I shall look forward to it. The technique was to suggest a hand movement would take them back into trance - I used my hand dropping from shoulder height down to about my waist, making sure I was quiet (to prevent any suggestion that the noise was the trigger). I'd had the people in and out of trance several times, take them deep!
